Each garment is the result of more than 100 hours of meticulous craftsmanship, performed under the watchful eyes of expert technicians. Hours of continuous quality control and meticulous product care – hallmarks of Made in Italy and the essence of a luxury product that, by virtue of this, must last forever. Every Jacob Cohën jean has its own DNA: the denims come from the world's best premium suppliers, including Italy and Japan, renowned for their premium selvedge fabrics. Each fabric has an intrinsic quality, a balance of tradition and innovation, sustainability and preciousness.
Moreover, the workshops where each jean is assembled are the same ones that saw the brand's inception. This is how the luxury concept of a Jacob Cohën jean truly comes to life: It all starts with a drawing, a pattern that evolves into an elaborate array of measurements, codes, lengths and proportions. What starts as a paper pattern design transforms into one of the most technologically advanced processes in the companies working for Jacob Cohën. Once digitised, the pattern is divided into different parts that are projected with a lasers onto fabric, lining or denim.Each cut is executed with millimetric precision. For example, denim cutting is performed using state-of-the-art machinery: after scanning the patterns, a sharp blade cuts through about 50 layers of denim, pressed together to eleminate any air pockets. The result is not only perfect in terms of design, but also ideal for ensuring that no fabric is wasted. Only highly skilled workers can operate these machines, the best on the market.

Sewing a pair of jeans involves at least 10 steps.
For the fit to be perfect in volume, symmetrical to the millimeter, and ideal once worn, Jacob Cohën jeans should feel like a second skin. Movement should be fluid, free. That's why every Jacob Cohën jean features a slightly curved waistband: a thoughtful detail that follows the natural silhouette, ensuring a flawless fit for every body. The linings, along with the front and back pockets, are hand-sewn. Rivets, buttons, and back labels are meticulously applied. The back labels – the ones visible “from behind” – are a signature element at Jacob Cohën, with at least 50 different types crafted in the finest workshops in Italy. For limited-edition styles, the most luxurious materials are used: leather, pony skin, crocodile. Some feature honeycomb textures, while others reflect the Japanese art of kintsugi. In these limited editions, every element is customisable: the back labels, the treatments, the fading, the embroidery, even the buttons, which are often hand-lacquered, or crafted using jewellery techniques, enriched with diamond dust or semi-precious stones. At Jacob Cohën, every buttonhole is made individually by hand, using specialised machines.
Few people know that inside every Jacob Cohën jean there is a whole world to discover. Embroidered within each pair, thanks to state-of-the-art machines in a historic workshop that has always collaborated with the brand, is the motto invented by Nicola Bardelle, a creative visionary who shaped the brand in the early 2000s. "Go to bed with a dream and wake up with a purpose," Nick used to remind us: an affirmation of industrious willpower, making visionary dreams tangible for anyone who believes in their abilities and aspirations. This motto is Jacob Cohën's mantra, embroidered inside each jean in different colors depending on the collection, and tone on tone with the linings, which also change seasonally. Even the Jacob Cohën logo and the iconic "mustache" design, seen on the back pockets, are painstakingly embroidered one by one.

Once the jeans are fully sewn, the customisation process begins. If specified by the pattern, hand-applied discolorations, sanding, or "whiskers" (as they are called in the trade), are crafted on a dummy wearing the jeans, giving each pair a distinctive "worn" effect. Then, the jeans undergo various specialised washes in industrial laundries, where they are precisely treated, discolored, washed with pumice stones for a vintage effect, dyed, stained, or sandblasted. Few people know that the formula for Jacob Cohën’s signature blue, a hallmark of the brand, remains a secret to this day. Even the dyeing process is an art form, carried out using the most advanced machinery, which distills and mixes drops of non-toxic pigments. A kind of ultimate alchemy, that imbues each pair with something truly special. Some styles are even treated with the most modern lasers to reproduce a precise design, pattern or logo on the denim. After each pair of Jacob Cohën jeans is hand-ironed and passes the final quality control checks, it's ready for the finishing touches. They are ironed once more, folded, and accessorised with a Jacob Cohën bandana, which changes with every collection. A "first aid" kit for tailoring adjustments is also included, together with labels that tell the story of its heritage. And finally, the ultimate flourish: a few drops of Jacob Cohen's bespoke perfume, an unmistakable blend of patchouli and sandalwood, are hand-sprayed inside the denim.
